A few years ago, I was your typical office-worker: stressed out, uneven energy, overweight, and inconsistent complexion. Now I'm just your typical 28-year old urban hunter-gatherer on a quest to be healthy, and having a few adventures along the way. See my full bio.
It's true, I'm a caveman
Modern science has confirmed what all of us already knew: I'm a caveman.
23andme just added the ability to check how much Neanderthal DNA you've got. Here are my public results. 2.8% of my DNA is from Neanderthals -- and yes, that's in the 80th percentile.
Can you imagine how devastating it would have been to learn that I didn't have much Neanderthal in me? In my line of work?

At 3.1% I am in the 98th
At 3.1% I am in the 98th percentile, O Positive, gluten and dairy intolerant, and a confirmed carnivore. So I am delighted to have found this blog! I feel like a timber wolf introduced to a littler of Pommeranians. Working with professional and other elite athletes, I find that I am certainly not alone. But the first step for people of our ilk is discerning who we are. And then put that knowledge to work.
I had no idea 23andMe had
I had no idea 23andMe had this - just checked and I have 3% in the 96th percentile. Woohoo! :)

i am going to make an off
i am going to make an off the cuff comment without doing any research. is it possible your results were due to gene expression? if you were living like most americans would have have only .1% neanderthal in you?

I was seriously bummed to be sub-par neanderthal.
