The China Study exposed: actual data does not support vegetarian health claims

Many of you may have heard of The China Study -- an extensive 20-year study of millions of Chinese, their diet, and disease.  T. Colin Campbell, the lead research from Cornell (and outspoken vegan advocate), concludes that we should be eating a plant-based diet devoid of beef, poultry, eggs, fish, and milk.  The China Study has even influenced John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, and new Whole Foods dietary recommendations in stores.

Well, the raw data is in, and the story ain't so pretty.  See the breaking news from Richard Nikoley at Free the Animal, and go straight to the take-down (warning: long!) from former vegan/vegetarian Denise Minger at Raw Foods SOS.

He is the FASTEST runner in the raw food movement today. Long time vegan and now powered by sweet fruit. How come there is no competitive athletes eating this 'paleo fat diet?' Please shut me up and show me cos Im sick of seeing cardio and muscle deficient paleo crew trying to debunk the china study that us elite athletes are thriving on. Can you debunk me with a high fat eating  paleo athlete? Didnt think so.. :) Love, peace and avocado grease. The BIG RICKSTER!

 Compared to the athletic

Compared to the athletic accomplishments of meat eating athletes the vegans really should not hold themselves out for comparison.Training is as much a matter of will as it is diet.  The best way to get fast at running is to run, not to eat fruit OR meat.  But to run, run with all you got.The existence of athletes of any caliber in any sport is no reflection on whether  a diet leads to health in the general populace at their differing activity levels.  Nor does it reflect longevity and elder health of those who practice that lifestyle.  Lots of high quality marathon runners have massive heart disease for example.
